Eli Somer, Ph.D. (Israel) Is the Immediate-past-president of the ESTD and past president of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). Somer is a Clinical Psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Haifa School of Social Work. He has published two books and over 90 scientific articles and book chapters in the field of trauma and dissociation. Somer’s familiarity with trauma is also personal. He is a son of Holocaust survivors and a veteran of several Arab-Israeli wars in which he participated as a tank commander and a Medical Corps mental health officer. Currently, Somer is a peace activist and a
supporter of several human rights organizations in Israel.
