Most of the articles in the European Journal for Trauma and Dissociation (EJTD) are in English but the journal website is in French and the multi-language option doesn’t work. The publisher is working on this problem and it will be fixed in the future. Sorry to our non-French speaking members for the inconvenience !

Presentation of the European Journal for Trauma and Dissociation (EJTD), by Professor Cyril Tarquinio, Chief Editor of the journal.
The EJTD was created in 2017 under the aegis of two important associations : the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation (ESTD) and the Francophone Association of Trauma and Dissociation (AFTD).
“The EJTD is an original journal dedicated to the publication of scientific and clinical literature on dissociative disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, psychological trauma and attachment disorders, for the promotion of exchanges between researchers, clinicians and other professionals. The EJTD publishes manuscripts of theoretical articles, scientific studies, clinical treatments, position papers, reviews of issues of relevance to children and/or adults. The journal accepts contributions, including case studies, from anthropological, transcultural, historical, neurobiological, pharmacological, physiological, psychological, psychometric, psychotherapeutic and societal perspectives. Our aim is to make this journal a new editorial player on psychotrauma and dissociation, to promote a certain openness and conception in the field in francophone and anglophone countries. In future years, this review is certain to be recognised academically and it will occupy a prominent place in Europe (at least) as a benchmark publication. However, it will also continue to be a forum for exchange and intellectual sharing between practitioners and researchers. This is one of the main reasons that it has been created. A randomized controlled trial is as instructive as a more clinical and empirical case study. Such approaches are not in opposition — quite the contrary, they complement each other. For, while it is impossible to enrich one's practice through a basic study, due to the very fact of its voluntarily reductive nature, it is not sufficient to rely exclusively on the rich but equally reductive of the clinician who is limited by the specific details of the clinical case being treated, which sometimes forms the basis for hasty generalizations. The two do not address the same reality, do not have the same goals and the shift from one to the other is far from obvious. Nevertheless good research and, what is more, a good journal must offer an equal role to both. EJTD will be the guarantor of this equal treatment, as part of the adoption of a theoretical and combined opening, which will undoubtedly be its trademark in the future. Promoting knowledge in the languages of Shakespeare and Molière (I prefer to say in the language of Janet) will also be a distinguishing feature of this journal.
In other words, what Paul Valery termed a book of value. “… A book is of value to me for the number and novelty of problems that it creates, animates or revives in my thought… I expect my readings to produce in me those observations, reflections, those sudden stops which suspend the gaze, illuminate perspectives and suddenly awaken a deep curiosity …”. And I too, along with all the associate editors accompanying me in this adventure, wish to make of the EJTD a journal that makes its mark by stimulating all that Paul Valery mentions, whether or not its readers are specialists in psychotrauma and dissociation. I want this journal to open up new perspectives for practitioners and researchers, rather than locking them into restrictive, conventional and narrow-minded approaches. Intellectual dynamism, openness and rigour will be the values of this project. It is therefore my hope that authors will be brave enough to submit their studies and share their work as researchers or their experiences as clinicians. Articles shall be eligible for inclusion in the EJTD provided that they meet certain criteria and are validated through the usual critical feedback procedures. Researchers and practitioners addressing questions of psychotrauma and dissociation in all their forms are invited to join us, to join associations such as the ESTD or the AFTD — all of us can and should contribute to the development of knowledge.
There is no such thing as insignificant knowledge! So start typing and submit your contributions — the patients need us … they need you!”
