AISTED was founded in Milan in December 2016 and is the first Italian association dedicated to the study of complex trauma, dissociative disorders and chronic traumatisation linked to early and pervasive abuse and severe neglect, originating mainly in childhood.
The consequences of complex trauma and chronic traumatisation on the development of the child’s and then the adult’s identity pose numerous therapeutic, theoretical, ethical, historical and legal questions that involve society at all levels and make our experience as practitioners, citizens and human beings complex.
The idea of the Association was born from the spontaneous meeting of many passionate, curious clinicians and experts in various capacities in the field of trauma and complex trauma. From 2011 to the present day, our group has informally started a common path made up of trainings, meetings, supervision, and shared objectives that have strengthened the motivation to spread the culture of trauma and the good practices explored together to date. Constant comparison with ESTD (European Society for Trauma and Dissociation) has fuelled the work of these years and ensured a solid reference point for the evolution of the Italian group with respect to the European guidelines and standards of care and treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders. The link with ESTD is strengthened today by the bond of belonging of all AISTED members to the ESTD community, a bond that makes us proud and honoured to bring the voice of European clinicians to Italy and to have this direct possibility of exchange and clinical comparison.
AISTED therefore aims to network the professionals who have worked alongside ESTD so far to bring these issues to the attention of Italian clinicians working in this field today or who would like to explore it in the future.

Presentazione AISTED- Associazione Italiana per lo Studio del Trauma e della Dissociazione
AISTED è nata a Milano nel Dicembre 2016 ed è la prima associazione italiana dedicata allo studio del trauma complesso, dei disturbi dissociativi e della traumatizzazione cronica legata ad abusi e gravi trascuratezze precoci e pervasive, con origine soprattutto in età infantile.
Le conseguenze del trauma complesso e della traumatizzazione cronica sullo sviluppo dell’identità del bambino e poi dell’adulto, pongono di fronte a numerosi interrogativi terapeutici, teorici, etici, storici e giuridici che coinvolgono a tutti i livelli la società e rendono complessa la nostra esperienza come operatori, cittadini ed esseri umani.
L’idea dell’Associazione è nata dall’incontro spontaneo di molti clinici appassionati, curiosi ed esperti a vario titolo nel campo del trauma e del trauma complesso. Dal 2011 ad oggi il nostro gruppo ha iniziato in modo informale un percorso comune fatto di formazioni,incontri,supervisioni e obiettivi condivisi che hanno rafforzato la motivazione a diffondere la cultura del trauma e le buone pratiche fino ad oggi esplorate insieme. Il confronto costante con ESTD (European Society for Trauma and Dissociation) ha alimentato il lavoro di questi anni e garantito un riferimento solido all’evoluzione del gruppo italiano rispetto alle linee guida e agli standard europei di cura e trattamento del trauma e dei disturbi dissociativi. Il legame con ESTD è rafforzato oggi dal vincolo di appartenenza di tutti i soci AISTED alla comunità dell’ESTD, vincolo che ci rende fieri e onorati di portare la voce dei clinici europei in Italia e di avere questa possibilità diretta di scambio e confronto clinico.
L’AISTED si propone dunque di mettere in rete i professionisti che hanno finora lavorato al fianco dell’ESTD per portare questi temi a l’attenzione dei clinici italiani che lavorano oggi in questo campo o che vorranno approfondirlo in futuro.
